The Electron–Ion Collider (EIC) is a next-generation international research facility designed to unlock the fundamental structure of matter. By colliding high-energy electrons with protons and heavy nuclei, the EIC will shine new light on how quarks and gluons generate the mass, spin, and structure of the visible Universe.
France plays a significant and growing role in the scientific mission and technological development of the EIC. Researchers from CNRS/IN2P3 laboratories, CEA-Irfu teams, and university groups contribute to theory, detectors, computing, and accelerator technologies, shaping the future capabilities of the EIC and supporting its scientific goals.
